UNIT 16 - M1 (Resubmision)

M1 - Identify resolutions to the legal and ethical issues for production

For this radio production I had to consider different legal and ethical issues that I could come across.
For example the use of the background music in the radio segment had to be royalty free, in order to make it accessible and usable in the product so that there isn't any legal issues to deal with. This also applies to all other soundtrack, music and sound elements used from different sources, which had to be copyright free in order to legally use it.

Some soundtrack did not need any legal requirement as they have been recorded by me, therefore I had the freedom of using them without any problems or anything regarding copyright issues. Furthermore the use of people's voices and their interviews needed to have a consent signed by them. This is to make sure their voice has been appropriately and legally assembled and used in a legal and safe manner. Anyone who was over 16 year of age had to sign the consent form themselves, but whereas anyone who under the age of 16 had to be authorised by their parents signature.

In addition, there had to be a consideration of what the contents of the stories and interviews said and what they portrayed and if that was impacting on someone's reputation. Damaging someone's character  or sharing false information and opinions are moral and ethical issues, which could impact the audience of the programme or the people involved. Therefore whatever has been said had to be controlled and made sure it did not offend anyone including racial discrimination, religion, ethnicity, social class, way of thinking, nationality, age, gender or demographic differentiation. This is to prevent any further issues related with the radio segment and it being free of any sort of misconduct, behaviour or judgement.
